Exceptional illustration tothetale from Ural Mountains tells us about the skilled artist Danila, a stone carver, who dreamed about creating a flower from malachite and other semi-preciousstones, and the flower would look like a real one. In order to get such skills he left his family and went to the underground kingdom of the Emperess of the Copper Mountain. Lacquer boxes from Mstera village, usually have the lightest colors. Artists there almost never choose black for their backgrounds, and instead use light blue, pink, gold or ivory colors. With the addition of these colors, landscapes generally play a more prominent role in Mstera works, and people and objects tend to take a place within the background setting rather than remain separate from it. In Mstera, a wide range of artistic talent exists. While some artists paint dynamic and elaborate scenes from fairy tales or famous battles, others concentrate on exquisite floral designs.

A very beautiful lacquer box with exquisite and sharp details painted with a one hair brush. Wonderful colors blend into each other making it a one well-designed and unique composition. The box itself is made of the highest quality papier-mache and is covered with three layers of lacquer. Paper-mache does not absorb the paint and it is also protected by a thick layer of lacquer. This way colors will not fade and will stay vivid and bright for many dozens of years to come.
